Remember Me Fondly

I could fill a whole book

out of stories I can't read.

All the things I mistook,

all the lies enhanced by your greed.

I could cry a thousand times,

but it would never be enough.

We weren't supposed to walk on separate lines,

I wasn't supposed to be MacDuff

in our platonic war.

All the times you made look unstable,

when I'd bite back and you'd twist the story.

All our wounds were supposed to be unfatal,

until you ran off and claimed glory.

I don't want your attention anymore,

It just hurts that you won the battle.

You even tried to convince our mentor,

but she knew not to believe your tattle.

I don't regret what I said when we signed the treaty,

my one regret is thinking you'd forgive and forget.

You don't know how bad it hurt when you called me needy.

Especially cause you knew you hit the target.

Despite everything,

I still want you to love me,

and if that's not possible,

please just remember me fondly.
