The Rain Won't Wash Away

All the chalk paintings we did on the sidewalk,
have washed away.
All the dreary trees,
have lost their leaves now.
Seeds have been planted,
and it's not romantic anymore.
Ever since you walked out the door.
But the rain won't wash away,
my hope for you to stay,
my need for us to somehow be okay.
The drought that engulfs my heart,
the second that we're apart.
I know that rain won't make you stay,
but is it really that pathetic to pray.
All the flowers we planted last month,
have dried up.
And the rain should help with that,
but they were too far gone.
Are we too far gone?
I'd kiss you while it's pouring,
if I thought it'd do anything.
But the rain won't wash away,
my hope for you to stay,
my need for us to somehow be okay.
The drought that engulfs my heart,
the second that we're apart.
I know that rain won't make you stay,
but is it really that pathetic to pray.
Why am I begging you now,
why can't you just honor your vow.
Why are you slowly killing my soul,
do you want me to just lose hope?
Why won't you tell me,
anything really?
I just want you to talk to me,
please.
But the rain won't wash away,
my hope for you to stay,
my need for us to somehow be okay.
The drought that engulfs my heart,
the second that we're apart.
I know that rain won't make you stay,
but is it really that pathetic to pray.
