The Scariest Feeling

The scariest feeling is not pain,

the scariest feeling is not grief,

the scariest feeling is not loneliness.

Pain helps you see the beauty in the world once it leaves.

Grief is devastating but is there to remind you of your ability to love.

Loneliness is tiring but there is always a solution.

All of these feelings,

all these terrible feelings are all temporary.

All these feelings show you that you can feel deeply.

All these feelings show you that you can love freely.

The scariest feeling is when you feel nothing at all.

That moment when you just stop caring about everything,

the moment when you give up.

The moment when you stop trying in school,

and stop responding to your friends.

The moment when you start screaming at your parents,

and then not speaking for days.

The moment when you realize that you have given up so much of yourself

to be what others want you to be,

that you just give up entirely.

When my friends are hurting,

I feel relief.

I feel relief because it means they still have emotions,

you know someone is really damaged when they don't care.

I pride myself on the fact that I don't overreact,

but if my friend comes to me saying they just don't care about anything anymore,

I will overreact.
